Network Tools Tutorial

Time 10/03/11 07:45AM-08:45AM

Session Abstract

The Network Tools Tutorial is a forum to showcase the latest developments in software development for network research.

Gerben van Malenstein, from SURFnet, will present an update on ongoing developments in national and international on-demand bandwidth services. SURFnet has offered a bandwidth on demand service to customers in the Netherlands since 2008, and this service is currently being extended to the international community trough NetherLight; SURFnet's GLIF Open Lightpath Exchange (GOLE) in Amsterdam.

Kuang-Ching Wang, from Clemson University, will discuss OpenFlow use at the University. Since 2010, Clemson has deployed an OpenFlow network that spans academic buildings and data centers with a team of faculty, students, and IT engineers. The process stimulated a series of research, education, and campus IT initiatives as well as a collaborative framework for self-sustaining evolution of the campus IT for supporting the university's core missions.
