Lessons Learned in a Centralized Approach to Digital Signage
Time 10/05/11 03:00PM-04:00PM
Session Abstract
In 2009, Wayne State University launched a university-wide digital signage project. Today, more than 40 displays are live on main campus and at extension centers, and the number continues to grow. The project was sponsored by the president's office with representation from a cross-section of schools, colleges and departments. Starting with a centralized approach brought many benefits. Standardization on displays and players, a central content management system, and central support for infrastructure provided cost and support efficiencies. Digital signage is more complex than we imagined. In this session we'll share the goals of the project, our technology choices, network considerations, facilities issues, division of responsibilities, successes and challenges.
