Session Abstract

This presentation will discuss the future of layer one switching functions in transport networks; these include Colorless, Directionless, Contentionless, and Gridless functionality as well as OTN based switching. Available technologies, and tradeoffs of various approaches to implement these functions, and the support needed will be discussed. The role of control plane and path computation for layer one switching will also be addressed.
