Science Discovery and Advanced Networking 1.5 Miles Below the Earth's Surface: Construction of a new Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory




The National Science Foundation has recently funded the development of preliminary designs for a new Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) at the former Homestake gold mine in Lead, SD (see http://www.lbl.gov/nsd/homestake/) with a planned construction start in late 2012.
