A Simple, High Availability, High Performance Approach to Expanding Education Networks

Time 11/04/10 10:30AM-11:45AM

Session Abstract

The rise of online courses and expansion of education technology challenges colleges to adapt to a new wave of university students that automatically expect access to high-bandwidth services. In return, network administrators face the dual challenge of providing a network that meets bandwidth requirements and extends service to the last mile while remaining affordable. To solve these issues, administrators are looking for network solutions that provide high-speed connectivity on a network that also simplifies their operations. BTI Systems and Fujitsu Network Communications will present a session on the benefits of utilizing a scalable packet optical platform using WDM, Carrier- and Connection-Oriented Ethernet technology to provide efficient, high bandwidth networks. Learn more about how to enable Ethernet transport for Ethernet services with the ability to enforce SLAs, so that traffic is guaranteed over the network, using Connection-Oriented Ethernet. This approach is exemplified with case studies that provide regional networks that connect university, industry and government partners across campus locations and provide them with advanced Internet research and distance learning capabilities.
