The Changing Global Environment for National R&E Networks (NRENS)
Time 11/02/10 01:15PM-02:30PM
Today's NRENs provide key infrastructure within a country or region, facilitating collaborative research and connecting academic users to their global counterparts. Often, NRENs are the foundation for a knowledge economy, and can provide a springboard for innovation and transformation. In many instances, governments have recognized the important role played by NRENs and have developed national broadband initiatives around the critical infrastructure provided by them.
Our goal for this session is to compare and contrast the changes occurring among NRENs around the world, exploring the transformative nature of NRENs and also the transitional points and challenges that many NRENs face. A panel of NREN leaders will share their experiences with transition. We expect to engage the audience in a dynamic discussion about the the changes we are seeing in the NREN environment, and are likely to experience in the future.
