Session Abstract

The emergence of identity federation as a building block for application security, and the Shibboleth Project, an open source implementation of web federation standards and value-added services are now roughly 10 years old. This session will take a look at the state of this technology entering its second decade, discuss the plans for long term project viability, and outline the emerging developments impacting the project and the federations it plays a role in supporting. It will also touch on some of the issues involved with the migration of services into the cloud environment, and how (and whether) federation plays a role in that shift.
