VA Enterprise Next-Generation Research and Education Network

Time 04/29/09 01:15PM-02:30PM

Session Abstract

The Department of Veterans Affairs maintains the largest integrated healthcare network in the world. As the VA works to move care closer to the veteran, especially in rural communities, continuity of care means that health information is available to all professionals in contact with the veteran. VA is working to overcome the barriers to make the necessary health information exchange possible.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is actively expanding telehealth services to the veteran. VA is looking to leverage Internet2 to extend quality service and support to the veteran, especially those in defined rural areas.

In addition the Department of Veterans Affairs announceds the implementation of VENREN, a nation-wide lab network that increases collaboration, reduces development time, and maintains security. This lab enables VA and non-VA organizations to work together more efficiently to bring advanced solutions to production use more quickly in service to the US veteran.
