IPv6 and the Security of Your Network and Systems

Time 04/28/09 08:45AM-10:00AM

Session Abstract

Now that the Internet is within just a few years of exhausting
the supply of available IPv4 addresses, many higher ed institutions
are accelerating their planning for support of IPv6 alongside IPv4.

Some campuses, however, may worry that deploying IPv6 may hurt
their security, and they may thus be "dragging their feet" just a
little bit, while others may be deploying IPv6 with the (perhaps
unfounded) expectation that IPv6 will somehow improve their system
and network security.

This talk, expanding on a well received talk from the College
Station Joint Techs meeting, will help explore the reality of
IPv6 for your campus.
