Intellectual Property Rights, Fair Use and the K20 Community

Time 04/28/09 04:30PM-05:30PM

Session Abstract

Recent discussions within the K20 community have raised questions of Intellectual Property and Fair Use Policies as they relate to content shared and archived in Internet2 applications, and student-generated and created content. Join us to hear specific issues raised by members of the K20 Community and search for a common understanding of these topics as they relate to both K12 and higher ed. We will look at how ownership is addressed when works are created as a result of collaborative work among students, teachers and peers across sites and network. Discussion will include how to define student rights and ownership issues related to where and how the work was created or shared. The first half of our session will involve sharing case studies while the second half will be facilitated group discussion.
