Project:engage- Leveraging Discoveries in Technology and Pedagogy to Create an Immersive Learning Network
Time 10/06/09 04:30PM-05:30PM
Session Abstract
IT in the classroom has too often been limited to computers, internet access, and some form of streaming video. More often than not, students are having more engaging media experiences within the media centers of their own homes. Immersive technologies for engaging students exist, but as of yet have not shown up in the classroom in a way that is able to transform existing pedagogy. Furthermore, the variables of IT knowledge, bandwidth, display capabilities, and access to immersive curriculum have made the challenge of incorporating innovative educational applications in the day-to-day classroom a moving target.
