George Brett worked at Internet2 from 2001-2010, first as chief information architect and later as senior manager of knowledge and information services. George was responsible for the planning and production of the Internet2 web site, electronic collections and collaboration spaces. He was a leader in communicating the application and integration of computers and networked information resources in education, research, and civic environments. Throughout his career, George focused on issues of collaboration, search, discovery, presentation and application of networked information resources. Prior to joining Internet2, George served as Senior Project Coordinator of the Distributed Applications Support Team (DAST) of the National Laboratory for Applied Network Research (NLANR). He was responsible for strategic planning and outreach activities for the DAST. During his tenure with DAST he developed the Advanced Applications Clearinghouse, a national center for the identification, collection, and dissemination of information about tools, resources, and projects that require high performance networks and computational environments. After working at Internet2, George went on to work at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and later General Dynamics. George passed away on Feb. 8, 2015.
