Mark PoeppingORG Carnegie Mellon University Title BIO As head IT architect for Computing Services, Mark is responsible for leading the long-range technology vision and mid-range architectural models that guide implementations for the central computing infrastructure at Carnegie Mellon. In this role, Mark has been instrumental in the definition and instantiation of many key efforts, among them a project and portfolio management process for the division and creation of the Information Security Office. In recent years, Mark has served as co-PI of the EDDY project-an effort to define an architecture and experimental base for orchestration and analysis of diagnostic and performance data agnostic and inclusive of domain-specific requirements. In addition to internal responsibilities, Mark chairs Salsa, the Internet2 advisory committee on security, and is a charter member of MACE, the Internet2 Middleware advisory group. Mark joined Computing Services in 1996 as director of systems and network development; he was previously affiliated with the Software Engineering Institute where he participated on a charter team of four who formed the original mission and focus of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) in 1988. Mark holds a B.A. in Mathematics from St John''s University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
