General Session - The Humanities in the Digital Age
Time 04/25/07 10:30AM-11:45AM
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is the largest funder of humanities programs in the United States. In 2006, NEH launched a new digital humanities initiative aimed at supporting projects that utilize or study the impact of digital technology. In this presentation, Chairman Cole will outline the potential for digital technology in enabling increased access to humanities resources (i.e., reaching beyond the academic community to the broader population), increased collaboration, new approaches in the practice of humanities scholarship, and changing the ways we read, write, think, and learn. Cole's talk will also cite specific examples of how digital technology is being applied across the humanities.
