Federations
Time 04/25/06 01:15PM-02:30PM
Session Abstract
Federations are proving to be an effective and scaleable approach to managing policy, trust, and technical issues for large numbers of members with common requirements. They are also emerging as forums where common solutions and approaches can be developed. This session will review the current state of Higher Ed/Research Federations around the world, and describe some recent examples of cooperation. European national federations are working together on common approaches to commercial information providers. And the Federal E-Authentication Federation has used their User Group to identify and explore common problems. Internet2 has created InCommon as a federation for US Higher Education and Research and is in the process of bridging InCommon to other federations.
