Boundless Opportunities - Online Schools and Advanced Networking

Time 12/06/06 03:00PM-04:00PM

Session Abstract

Recent years have seen the birth and maturation of
a wide variety of state and grant funded online schools offering K-20
students and teachers a rich collection of online courses, digital library
resources, and online learning tools. According to the United States
Distance Learning Association, 90 percent of four-year public schools and
over half of the four-year private schools offer some form of online
education. About 25 percent of K-12 public schools offer an e-learning
program for their students and teachers, according to Education Week. In
this session, leaders from a few of our nation's most innovative online
learning communities will describe their organization and discuss how access
to an advanced network could help change the nature of the content they
deliver and remove barriers to student learning.
