Best Practices: IPv6 Infrastructures
Time 12/05/06 03:00PM-04:00PM
This talk discusses our efforts on IPv6 infrastructures for a research and development project within APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) members. Many killer applications including IPv6 Multicasting, Voice over IPv6, Media Streaming on IPv6 as well as Grid applications (Ecology and Telescience) were tested on our IPv6 network. We will share our experience with the audience for migrating from IPv4 to IPv6. We used 2200+ IPv6 addresses in international networks with connectivity ranging from 11.13 Gbps to 11.5 Gbps. Our IPv6 infrastructure included TWAREN (Taiwan Research and Education Network), major commercial and government networks in Taiwan. This infrastructure had native links with networks in Japan and Singapore; and tunnel links with networks in Korea, Indonesia and Thailand. We had successfully demonstrated Voice over IPv6 over these international networks. Using multicast, we also demonstrated commercial Video on Demand service and video streaming over IPv6. Finally, we will discuss our experience on Grid integration Services using IPv6 Smart sensor server on an Ecology project.
