Implementing 802.1x

Time 12/06/06 10:30AM-11:45AM

Session Abstract

The 802.1x standard defines mechanisms to allow network access decisions using existing standard higher layer authentication and authorization protocols enforced at the port. Implementing 802.1x on a campus network requires a detailed understanding of the key components and how they interoperate. There are a number of key decision points that an organization needs to consider before implementing 802.1x. This session will cover the design and use of 802.1x in a campus network environment. The session will review several deployment currently in use at various campuses. Other topics to be covered include infrastructure requirements, EAP type choices, and available clients.
