Building a GMPLS-enabled optical network to support extended network services
Time 07/18/06 09:30AM-09:50AM
The Enlightened Computing project is an NSF seed-funded project aiming to develop a new middleware system to support next-generation e-science applications. As a part of the project, MCNC and its partners are building a wide-area advanced optical network testbed using GMPLS-enabled Calient switches. This presentation will give a brief overview of the project and introduce our experiences with Calient switches from the application perspective - i.e., how advanced networking functions can be provided, how the switch could interoperate with other switches, and how the application software system can provide intelligent network services via API interfaces that we are developing.
