Case Study: Debugging Multicast Problems from an Applications Perspective

Time 02/06/06 11:35AM-12:00PM

Session Abstract

The HAVnet project at Stanford is exploring applications of high-performance networks to medical education. The project has developed several software applications that are dependent on multicast. In the process of deploying these applications at Stanford, the University of Michigan, and Wisconsin, we have encountered a variety of problems with multicast behavior, including delays in group setup of several minutes. This talk will outline the characteristics of the applications, the nature of the problems encountered, the debugging methods employed, and the ultimate resolutions.
