Telecom Reform and Its Impact on the Higher Education Community
Time 09/21/05 03:00PM-04:00PM
The focus of this discussion will be the set of deliberations on national telecommunication policy issues that have begun in Washington, DC. The US Congress is beginning what will most likely be an extended examination of how to recast the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to more appropriately reflect today's telecommunications environment. The issues of telecommunications reform are vitally important to higher education (how we build our future networks and reach learners on and off the campus is just one crucial element) and we want our community to be fully engaged in these discussions as they play out.
Key to making an impact will be involving a wide cross section of our member institutions and having them in turn work to influence the decision makers who represent them in Congress. Telecommunications reform is important to your institution and your input to the debate can be a critical element to the success of any new legislation.
