Making The "Net" Work for K-20: Experiences from California

Time 04/21/04 02:45PM-03:45PM

Session Abstract

As in many states, California has added the K12 community to its network of I2 universities, creating a cohesive statewide K-20 advanced services network. This session will highlight three different approaches to use of the California Research and Education Network (CalREN): (1) the Exploratorium, a science museum in San Francisco, provides an overview of their electronic learning resources; (2) the Center for the Teaching of Social Justice at the University of California at Santa Barbara discusses the necessity of developing a human K-20 network in order to make use of CalREN's physical network for collaboration; (3) a panel of technology leaders will "beam in" from California to demonstrate and explore how new technologies can be used today to prepare for a future in which high bandwidth is pervasive throughout the state.
