Advanced Applications - Medical: Medical Simulators and Internet2 - Combining Technology To Improve Medical Education

Time 10/14/03 01:15PM-02:30PM

Session Abstract

Medical simulation models are a relatively new teaching tool in the area of
medical education. This session describes how using a medical simulation model was combined with Internet2 to provide a new frontier in medical education. The high bandwidth of Internet2 was used to deliver a case study using a medical simulation model between the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences
(Bethesda, MD) with a rural physician assistants program at Saint Francis
University (Loretto, PA). We will discuss how medical simulation models over high-performance networks show much promise to enhancing the delivery of
medical education in "hard to reach" places.
