Health Science Open Working Group Meeting

Session Abstract

The Internet2 Health Science Initiative includes clinical practice, medical and related biological research, education, and health awareness. This open session of the Health Sciences Working Group will provide participants with updates on current activities and a report from the Health Sciences Leadership Teams. Join member of the Health Science Working Group to get the latest updates on project initiatives in Medical Middleware, Veterinary Medicine, End-to-End Performance Network "Weatherstations" and Security. Discuss hot topics of Bioethics, Biomedical computing, health surveillance and homeland security, and tele-collaboration.

The keynote discussion for this Spring's Health Science session will be on "Deploying a Clinical Trials Research Network: the Business Case for Internet2 Health Sciences". The Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Program at NIH is working collaboratively with the Internet2 Health Science community to enhance the research capacity and infrastructure at minority colleges and universities through the development of an RCMI Clinical Trials Network. RCMI Bioinformatics and/or Computational Biology Cores; and other collaborative research efforts requiring the acquisition, transmission, and mining of large data sets will be explored in this discussion.
