Advanced Applications: Status of the Internet2 Commons: A Panel Discussion
Time 10/02/01 10:30AM-11:45AM
The Internet2 Commons is a framework for collaboration throughout the research and education community that will encourage large scale deployment of tools for one-to-one, one-to-group, and group-to-group collaborations. These interactive communications include meetings, conferences, and activities related to teaching and learning. The services provided by The Commons are available to Internet2 members (primary and sponsored) and their international counterparts. While the Internet2 Commons will eventually comprise a large set of collaboration services, it initially focuses on services related to video conferencing. In this session the Internet2 Commons Management Team will provide status reports on various collaborative activities such as the scheduling of H.323-based video conferences using Common's multipoint control units, H.323 addressing issues, a portal for training, international activities, and VRVS.
