Working Group: HENP Working Group

Time 10/01/01 08:00AM-12:00PM

Session Abstract

The mission of the High Energy and Nuclear Physics (HENP) Working Group is to help ensure that the required national and international network infrastructures, standardized tools and facilities for high-performance, end-to-end monitoring and tracking, and Collaborative systems are developed and deployed in a timely manner, and used effectively to meet the needs of HENP. The group also strives to carry out these developments in a way that is broadly applicable across many fields, within and beyond the scientific community. This is our first meeting as an I2 Working Group. We will cover a review of current and future networks used by HENP, recent work on monitoring and getting high performance over networks, and a discussion of network requirements in a Grid environment. We will also discuss the role of our WG in Internet2, the relationship to the recently started network effort in the Global Grid Forum, and our initial workplan.
