Elias Eldayrie

ORG University of Florida Title Vice President & Chief Information Officer BIO Mr. Elias G. Eldayrie is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the University of Florida, a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU). Mr. Eldayrie joined the University of Florida in May 2010. As the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Mr. Eldayrie is responsible for development and execution of Information Technology (IT) strategy and policy, IT workforce, and IT operations university-wide. In this role, he provides oversight and leadership to existing units under the Vice President and CIO and has responsibility for the IT Governance Council and Committees. Mr. Eldayrie is the Chair of the Florida LambdaRail (FLR) Board of Directors, the Co-Chair of the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC), a member of the External Relations Program Advisory Group for Internet2, the past Chair and member of the Sunshine State Education Research Computing Alliance (SSERCA) Executive Committee as well as a member of the Oak Hammock Board of Directors. In addition to Mr. Eldayrie¹s administrative duties at UF, Mr. Eldayrie is an adjunct lecturer in the Warrington College of Business Administration. He also taught at the School of Management at the University of Buffalo and internationally at Grodno State University in Belarus, Budapest Technical School in Hungary and for the Riga Business School. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Mr. Eldayrie served as the Chief Information Officer at the University at Buffalo (UB), the largest public university in New York State and a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU). In his role as UB CIO, Mr. Eldayrie led UB senior leadership and key stakeholders in developing the first campus-wide strategic plan for information technology, aligning IT resources across UB with the academic and business needs of the university and establishing partnerships with UB senior leadership and members of key constituencies. Mr. Eldayrie served on the board of the New York State Education and Research (NYSERNet), was an executive member of the Buffalo/Niagara Regional Dark Fiber Optic Network Project and served on the Executive Council of SUNY CIOs. Mr. Eldayrie has received numerous awards, including the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, a Sallie MAE Education Institute Award, a Student Access Excellence Award, a Milton Plesur Excellence in Teaching Award and a UB Service Excellence Award. Mr. Eldayrie received a bachelor's degree in computer science and an MBA, both from the University at Buffalo. He and his wife, Michele, have one son and three daughters.
