ORG University of Utah Title Executive Director, CI Strategy BIO Dr. Corbató is the deputy chief information officer at the University of Utah as well as the interim director of the Center for High Performance Computing and an adjunct faculty member in the School of Computing. He has coordinated development and application of campus IT resources in support of faculty-driven research initiatives and is a leader in development of advanced networking and CI capabilities in collaboration with other institutions in Utah and within the Intermountain West. From 2000 to 2006, Corbató served in several leadership positions at Internet2, where oversaw all national network infrastructure activities and later held responsibility for the technology side, including research facilitation, network performance and security, federated identity management, and middleware. Previously, he was technical lead for the Pacific Northwest Gigapop, principal Internet architect and manager of network engineering at University of Washington, Seattle, and a member of the cosmic ray astrophysics research group at the University of Utah. He is vice chair of the Kuali Rice board and recently served on the Mid-Scale Infrastructure Committee for the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation. He received his B.A. cum laude from Rice University and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, both in physics.
