Time 10/28/14 09:15AM-10:00AM

Room White River Ballroom C

Session Abstract

Between 2013 and 2016 a number of large-scale sports events of global interest, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, are being held in Brazil, and are providing the opportunity to develop and deploy novel 8K video technologies and transmission solutions for wide-scale dissemination of video coverage for mass audiences. This session will present some of the challenges which confront the on-going collaboration between TV companies and network organizations from Japan and Brazil, including research networks from Brazil, the US and Japan, for transmission of both live and prerecorded UHD TV content.

Speakers will describe and discuss currently employed audio/visual solutions and transmission schemes, including reliable media transmission over shared IP networks extending halfway around the world, as well as future distribution schemes designed to reach mass audiences.
