Session Abstract

Under direction of the Global R and E Network CEO Forum, a small group of network planners from NRENs around the world have been meeting since September 2013 to discuss the evolution of a coherent and coordinated Global Network Architecture (GNA). Recognizing the rapid development of international science projects, the rise of global education initiatives, and the decreasing cost of large-scale bandwidth, this small group has produced a high-level blueprint document outlining a GNA. This document is available at . The authors feel this document is at a point where it can function as a starting point for a broad community discussion about the development of a GNA. We propose a BoF titled “Global Network Architecture – A Community Discussion.” This session will begin with a short introduction of the work of the GNA group, but the majority will be devoted to a community discussion on the development of the GNA. Many of the GNA document authors will participate in this session and be available to answer questions, but it is the Global R and E community’s input and participation that will create the GNA. This is your chance to have an impact.
