Session Abstract

The Community Identify Framework for Education and Research (CIFER) is a project focused on deciphering the complexities of deploying Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions in and across our universities. Several individual components of an overall IAM solution exist and are being used today, each in various stages of maturity. CIFER’s mission is to accelerate development of gaps in the components and ensure they are all interoperable. It will create a framework that the components will be instrumented for and plugged into. The framework will provide new audit and compliance reporting as well as dramatically increase efficiency of IAM service operations. Attendees of this session will learn more about the goals of CIFER and how they are encouraged to participate. They will also hear how CIFER is a cornerstone of the new Trusted Identity in Education and Research (TIER) focus of the InCommon Steering Committee.
